RE: Notice of Intent to Submit an Application for the Federally Funded Grant,
21st Century Community Learning Centers, which supports out-of-school
time programming for school years 2024 - 2027
In accordance with the application instructions from North Carolina Department of Public
Instruction, Cherokee County Schools submits a Public Notice to the community of Cherokee
County NC of its intent to submit an application for a 21st Century Community Learning Centers
(CCLC) After-School Programs Grant. Students in P-K through Grade 8 may be eligible to
participate in the 21st CCLC After-School Program.
The purpose of the 21st CCLC Grant is to provide federal funds for eligible Title I schools to
establish or expand community learning centers that operate during out-of-school time hours
with three specific purposes:
1. Improve academic achievement in core academic subjects such as reading and math
2. Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and STEAM focused
activities that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program
3. Offer families of students served by 21st CCLCs opportunities for active and meaningful
engagement in their children’s education
